Biomass – a long-term alternative for heat and power
Biomass and Plant Oil CHP

Biomass is one of the most important and most diverse renewable energy sources. Biomass is used in solid, liquid and gaseous form and  the all-rounder among the renewal energy sources: Electricity, heat as well as fuels can all be produced from solid, liquid and gaseous biomass.

In addition to the biomass provided through forestry and agriculture, residual biogenic substances and biogenic wastes are available for energy production. These include in particular waste and recovered wood, biowaste (e.g. from bio bins), sewage sludge/sewage gas/landfill gas, slurry/solid manure and straw.

Biogassystems are a new economic mainstay for agriculture. the use of slurry, in particular, contributes greatly to climateprotection. Biogas microgrids and the conditioning of biogas to the same quality as natural gas are creating new options forthe operation of biogas plants. In order to use these sources we need a “Material Flow Management”. According to the principles of sustainable development, material flow management must consider environmental, economic and social aspects.

A modern material flow management is not only a point of procurement of biomasses – the creation of jobs is also an important factor.
